Spotlight: Tabitha Rayne

Happy Monday! Today, I'm spotlighting Tabitha Rayne, author of A Clockwork Butterfly. Enjoy!

It’s lovely to be here today Lindsay, thank you for letting me stop by!

Food Glorious Food!

Food, food, food! I love food, my mouth is watering just typing the word! I had always dreamed of how wonderful beef Wellington would be, so much so, that I would deny myself it if it was ever on the menu at a restaurant just in case it didn't match up to my vision of what it would taste like. Recently though, one of my friend's who is a magnificent chef, made some and I'm telling you, it was better than I ever imagined. Because I made my future world where A Clockwork Butterfly is set, fairly austere, good food becomes a rare and coveted treat for my heroine, Lena. In one chapter, she is given a feast of all the mouth watering delicacies you can think of and because she has basically lived off gruel most of her life, it is an overwhelming sensual treat. I had great fun writing that scene, imagining all the flavours and textures, mmmm salmon, perfect strawberries, - and the best bit? I simply had to do some research on some chocolate ice cream!

A little taster…
“You must be hungry,” The Wasp stated and guided Lena unsteadily over the thick rug.
Lena remembered how rich and ornate it had looked and took the opportunity to wriggle her bare toes about in it as she walked. She tried to brand the memory into her feet so she could revisit this place while she paced the cold concrete of her cell at night. She shivered slightly and at once a cloak was draped around her shoulders and clipped together at her throat. They stopped and Lena was told to sit while Cheryl removed her blindfold. Before her lay the most sumptuous feast she had only ever seen in fairytales. For a punishment, Lena thought to herself, this wasn’t bad. Not bad at all.

The Wasp sat at the other end of the table and could only just be seen over the mountains of beautiful fresh delicacies and candelabras.

“Champagne?” The Wasp cocked her head to Cheryl who placed a glass of bubbly liquid in front of Lena.

“Thank you.” She smiled at the young woman and noticed she had changed into what looked like an old fashioned waitress or maid’s outfit. Cheryl looked away and bowed slightly to The Wasp. Lena felt a very strange atmosphere grow between the women and sensed that she should just keep her attention on her plate which was now being piled high with all sorts of delicious looking morsels. Salmon, broccoli, cheese, plums, grapes, bread, and things Lena couldn’t even name.

She picked up her fork and paused, waiting for a command to eat from The Wasp. She nodded once, staring, and Lena speared the salmon and ravenously piled it into her mouth. Everything was incredible. Lena was in heaven. The manor’s food had been on a par with the gruel thrust through her cell door in the mornings and Lena savored every lick of this bounty. She glanced up at The Wasp and Cheryl who were motionless, staring at her. Lena didn’t know whether to feel intimidated or amused so just kept stuffing her face and chewing until her jaws and stomach ached. She half anticipated another round of punishment of some sort and wanted to make sure that she took full advantage of her host’s hospitality just in case she was never brought back to this table.

Happy Friday!

Today, I'm featuring a spotlight of Knee Deep by Jolene Perry. Monday, I'll be posting a review of the book, as well, so be sure to check back in! Enjoy.

Knee Deep Summary

Shawn is the guy Ronnie Bird promised her life to at the age of fourteen. He's her soul mate. He's more uptight every day, but it's not his fault. His family life is stressful, and she's adding to it. She just needs to be more understanding, and he'll start to be the boy she fell in love with. She won’t give up on someone she’s loved for so long.

Luke is her best friend, and the guy she hangs with to watch girlie movies in her large blanketopias. He's the guy she can confide in before she even goes to her girlfriends, and the guy who she's playing opposite in Romeo and Juliet. Now her chest flutters every time he gets too close. This is new. Is Ronnie falling for him? Or is Juliet? The lines are getting blurry, but leaving one guy for another is not something that a girl like Ronnie does.

Shawn’s outbursts are starting to give her bruises, and Luke’s heart breaks as Ronnie remains torn. While her thoughts and feelings swirl around the lines between friendship and forever, she’s about to lose them both.

Summer Heat

Happy Thursday!

Today, I had a special assignment from one of my publishers, Rebel Ink Press. This is a summer heat blog hop event! Check out the rest of the great writers at rebelinkpress.com/rebelreasoning.

Here we go:

The click-clack of her heels across the wood floor sent a thrill across his skin. He chewed his lip with anticipation and longed to wipe at the bead of sweat trickling down his face. But his tied hands could only strain at the bed frame.

The bed shifted ever so slightly as she leaned against it. His body tensed, waiting for her soft touch. Please, he begged silently.

When she trailed the wispy feather up his leg, he moaned. Her hand slid upwards from his feet, tickling the hairs and making him twitch. She crawled on top of him, always touching his skin and leaned close to his ear.

Her soft body lay against him, her hair brushing his chest. “Do you want me, baby?” Her breath tickled his ear.

“Yeah, I do.”

She shifted, and he wondered what naughty things she could be pulling from her bag of tricks. When the tip of the high heel scraped against his chest and she tapped it over his heart.

“Maybe you’ll get me. But I’m going to make you wait for it, just like you did me in high school.”

Realization hit him, smacking him right in the face. How could he not have recognized the baby blue eyes that used to stare at him with tears brimming them?

“Becky?”

“I’ll see you later, lover.”

The door closed and silence engulfed him.

The end!

Come look at everybody! Enjoy!
