Horror Hop! Day One: You Write Horror?!

Good morning, and happy Monday!

Welcome to the paranormal and horror novella blog hop. I am Lindsay Klug, multi published author with several paranormal and horror novellas on the market. Mostly, I love to write vampires and werewolves, but I'm expanding and growing with every keystroke.

Many times, when I tell someone I write horror, they have one of two initial reactions.

First: I thought horror writers were all men.

Second: She must be deranged.

Neither of the two are true, though number two is up for debate sometimes. I just happen to enjoy a good scare, and so I write things that are intended to chill the reader. Because anyone reading horror isn't looking for unicorns and sunshine.

Unless the unicorns are vicious killers, that is.

I digress. Sure, my bookshelf is filled with the likes of A Writers Guide To: weapons, cause of death, and body trauma, but those help me to write realistically. And yeah, I have an encyclopedia called Hunting Humans. It details each and every serial killer.

Okay, maybe I'm also on a watch list for the FBI since most of my searches entail phrases like...

"If a woman is stabbed with a dagger, what does the wound look like?"

"Can a man's testicles be removed whole?"

"If a body is thrown into a pen full of wild boars, how long would it take to be completely eaten?"

On second thought, I can see where they might think me deranged.

If you'd like a quick little horror/paranormal story, check out Siege of Shadows. It's a Halloween novella published last year with Silver Publishing, and I frankly loved the way it came out. Thanks for dropping by!

Blurb:

A neighbor, arrested, covered in his wife’s blood. A wolf stalking her. To top it all off, the new neighbor is trying to kill her—in her nightmares.

Billie is having one hell of a time with the new guy on the block. She can’t decide if she hates him or wants to take him to bed, for starters. And every time she dreams about him, she wakes up with dried blood on her body.

There’s only one explanation, but even Billie thinks she’s crazy for believing it. No way her neighbor is trying to kill her.

Right?

Hi Lindsay--just making the rounds of our blog hop, and wanted to check in. Just a guess--are you a big fan of the movies "Hard Candy" and "Hannibal"?

Hello!

Sorry for my late comment. Just returned from Canada.

I have a big book filled with serial killer descriptions too. LOL! I'm sure the F.B.I. is watching us!

Congrats on the novella!

That's funny you mention being on the FBI watch list for your searches. I have also worried about this when I am researching for my books. I had to look up how to make Napalm for a short story and was for sure they would put out a BOLO on me.

Anyways keep up the good work, I look forward to your upcoming posts.

Hannibal is one of my all time abortive movies. Glad to see we're all a little nuts!
