Back again! I hope you're enjoying the blog hop, and reading tons of great stuff from everybody.
As promised, here's the excerpt from Siege of Shadows:
The front door creaked on a rusty hinge as I opened it, sending a flurry of age-old dust into the air. "Hello?" I called in a tentative voice. A bang down the hallway drew my attention. Dragging my fingers along the wall, I walked toward the sound.
In the last room in the house sat a wolf. He glanced at me with beautiful blue eyes and then looked away as though ashamed of himself. Stepping into the room, I angled my head to look at him. "Hello, wolf," I said, expecting a response. He stood, shaking his fur out to alleviate the dust and approached me slowly, circling and sniffing my hair. Standing still, I wasn't fearful of him at all.
And when a hand came around my chin, I already knew who stood behind me.
"Why did you come here?" Landon whispered in my ear, his body pressed close to mine.
"I didn't mean to."
"Yes, you did. You've been running here since the day we met." His arm circled my waist, pulling me closer, and my nails raked up his naked thighs as I watched the wolf come back around to sit and watch us. "I was going to let you go, Billie. But now you've found me, and I can't."
"I don't want to go." I didn't want to leave. The house collapsed around us, leaving only the piece of rickety wood floor we'd been standing on and the waving grass surrounding us.
Landon growled, a sound which shook me to the core, and tilted my head back until my neck lay exposed. Trailing his tongue along the skin, he left a prickling path as his hands molded to my body. Moaning, I arched against him and my hands laced behind his head, leaving me completely at his mercy.
I closed my eyes as his warm fingers traced long lines down my belly, snapping them open in surprise when they met my inner thighs and trailed upward. The wolf shook his head and trotted away, and the first flurry of fear began to wend its way through me. Turning my face, he caught my mouth in a demanding kiss.
"I'm sorry, Billie," he whispered.
I didn't have a chance to ask why as he gripped my arms. I felt something sharp sink into the tender skin on my shoulder followed by a powerful tug, as though someone had put a plunger into my heart.
Panicking, I struggled to move, but he had me secured. "Relax," he murmured against my skin as I squirmed and kicked, and my shirt ripped in the struggle. My breath caught as the sharp points sank deeper and a scream reached my ears.
I sat bolt upright in bed, my breath heaving and heart racing. Bright morning sunlight filtered into my bedroom window, and the blinking alarm clock indicated I'd been asleep for a solid nine hours.
The dream stayed fresh on my mind, so much so I could still feel the warm fingers on my arm. Disturbed, I kicked the covers off and looked down. My clothes were intact; my feet were clean. Running a hand through my hair, I climbed out of bed to wash my face.
Wide-eyed, I touched the tiny trace of dried blood near my collarbone.
